Wear your mask
Vaccinated or not, people should still wear their masks. Though not a one-fix solution, wearing masks greatly lower your odds of getting the virus. There are also different types of masks that offer different grades of protection. Know more about these different types of masks in the video below or go to the 2nd blog post.
Get vaccinated
If you can, please get the COVID vaccine. It offers many benefits that can be seen in this infographic (1st picture in the photo gallery) but I think the best benefit of it is that it will bring us closer to reaching herd immunity. Not only will it protect yourself from the virus, but you can also protect other people by doing so. Do some research on the different vaccines available. There are many pro's and con's to each and I think it's just a matter of personal preference as to which you would prefer getting.
Observe proper hygiene
Even before the pandemic, proper hygiene should've already been normalized. But now that COVID is here, we should be extra careful. Since the virus spreads through small droplets and airborne particles, it easy to get contaminated by actions that we often overlook like: touching our mouth then touching our phone, and touching an item at the grocery store that other people have touched. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention or the CDC suggests to wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, and if not available instead use hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
Observe social distancing
I think it is important to remember that not everyone who has the virus will be symptomatic; some people will be asymptomatic (not showing any symptoms). And since the virus is spread through droplets and particles, it is very important that we still observe proper social distancing of at least 6 feet with other people.
Say no to that party invitation
Unfortunately some people just don't care anymore. They throw parties and big events without observing proper COVID protocol. Though it is common knowledge that Filipinos really like to party, please remember that we are still in a pandemic. In a couple months, either you won't regret not going to that party anymore, or you'll blame yourself for being a super spreader and giving your own mother COVID. Parties are not as important as your/and other people's physical health, wait for things to get better and then go.
Don't be scared/ashamed to get tested
I don't understand the embarrassment that comes with getting tested. Everybody is eventually going to get a COVID scare at one point in their life so why be ashamed? If you're not feeling well, it's better to be safe than sorry. Wasting time and potentially spreading it to other is genuinely such an insensitive thing to do. If you start to feel symptoms, immediately quarantine yourself and/or get tested.
Stop spreading fake news
With the surge of 'influencers' trying to "clout-chase" the spreading of fake news is bound to happen. Not just even influencers. Do you remember the time that Salvador Panelo told the public that one of the ways that he protected himself from COVID was by eating bananas? That same day all of the major markets and grocery stores ran out of them. By trying to fact check, we learned that this is not true at all. Allegedly, when Mr. Mikael Angelo Francisco (science journalist and EIC of FlipScience) contacted Mr. Panelo's source, he (the source) denied the claims. Since people are now relying more and more on the internet as their main source of news/media, it is very easy for fake news to circulate. The best thing that we can do is to find the sources before sharing information. If you're having a hard time trying to find them, it's most likely to be fake.
